National Congress for Fathers and Children NCFC Greater Pittsburgh Chapter
A poem by Derral Patterson, a 12 year old boy from Pittsburgh's Northside. Derral has not seen his father for a long time. His father has chosen not to be involved in Derral's life. Why, I don't know. Children like Derral add so much happiness to a father's life. I wish there were some way we could show these voluntarily non-involved fathers the joys of being a Dad.

Dad Poem

FATHER

Oh where, oh where has my father been?
He must be playing again.

Oh where, oh where has my father been?
I haven't seen him since I don't know when.

Oh where, oh where has my father been?
I haven't seen him since I don't know when.

Oh Father, oh Father, where have you been?
You must come out and play with me again.

Oh Father, oh Father, do you remember me?
I remember the time you talked to me.
It felt so good inside
I just wanted to break down and cry, cry and cry.

Oh Father, oh Father, I wrote this for you.
I hope you like it because it's for you.

by Derral Patterson

Dedicated to all the fathers who don't see their kids.
